Hi folks, In the past I had used Ape98 with windows 98 with a SIO2PC setup. I have several hundred ATR images that I would like to load onto my Atari 800XL from the PC.
Now I have a different machine with Windows 2000.
Does anyone know of a software application that will perform a similar task but that will work on Windows 2000?
If so, where can I download it and how much does it cost?
Regards, Omar

Use APE for DOS. You'll have to make a DOS boot floppy and boot up in pure MSDOS. Mo

Have you tried SIO2PC in a DOS window?
Do you have access to a DOS version which can read whatever FAT that C: is using? If so, make a boot floppy and use SIO2PC from the DOS prompt.

IS there a DOS window in Windows 2000?
I thought it was based on NT4 and didn't have one. I know that XP will not have a DOS window. Before XP comes out, I'm planning to redo my hard drive with a small DOS partition in addition to the two Windows partitions and Linux partition I already have.
Take care.

I don't have it, but from what I understand there is no DOS access under win2000. It doesn't handle the comm ports the same way win98/95 did either. You'll have to use a dos boot floppy, like the win95 emergency boot disk. Goto and you might find help there. Mo

Al,
Yes there is a DOS prompt window. Click on
Start>Run then type cmd and hit enter. A DOS window will be
displayed. I haven't tried A.P.E. yet, but PC Xformer works OK. -- Robert S Ely - aka - Eli-the-Iceman rsel@optonline.net r@dhs.state.nj.us rsel@hotmail.com hsre@vm.state.nj.us ICQ#: 33390750 AOL-IM: Eliice1954 Work Phone:1-609-894-4057 Work FAX:1-609-894-4048

What is SIO2PC. I can convert a .cas file to .sio. CAn I use an .sio file with an emulator.

A hardware hack and software that allows an IBM computer to emulate an Atari disk drive for use with a real Atari 8 bit computer.
The conversion you would want is .cas to .ATR or .XFD, the two formats used in the by emulators and SIO2PC as virtual disk drives.
I think the older versions of Xformer don't support .ATR format, not sure about the latest version.

The latest version XF 3.8 for DOS handles the .ATRs nicely as will the Win version XF2000...
