360K in DDDS mode.

Thanks... I found an Atari disk image FAQ right after I posted the message!
Is there any special way to format 360K DSDD disks on an 800XL with an XF551?
I don't know yet because I don't have any software to run on it and am currently without APE or anything useful like that.

MyDOS, SpartaDOS, & DOS XE will do the trick.

You *could* actually create a raw format 360K DSDD disk with a few Pokes and USR call to configure the Percom block and send an SIO format command. You would then need a suitable DOS to make use of the space in any constructive fashion.

I was just checking out Min Office II. Cool stuff - thanks for the pointer.

Nope! Besides, I do not know of any program package that includes all of these programs (as one package). hmmm, maybe the synapse programs, like syncalc, synfile, synhome, etc. (not sure if all of the synapse programs were really available). But the whole package had been tested years ago in Antic magazine and it also included a terminal program (300 or 1200 baud). otherwise you have to search for alternatives, with some limitations here and there. try Mini-Office 2, SAM (german GUI called Screen aided management) or use some PD programs like Speedscript, Speedcalc, BBK T-Edit, BBK Calc, etc. etc. -Andreas.

What about the one written by Russ Wetmore? Can't remember the name but had a fairly attractive if gaudy look from memory.

Homepak, I had it. Word processor, database and comm program. The wp and db were functional but very limited as I remember. Hometerm was a decent terminal program, but not as good as 1030 Express.
For me it was PaperClip, Synfile, Syncalc and 1030 Express.
