Hi, Bill, everbody. It isn't 'Gem Drop X'. I looked at GDX from your site and it isn't the same as the one my daughter was playing. I see you give credit for the idea, can't remember the name 'Magic something'. Ok, I'm gonna go see if I can find it.... It's called 'Super Gem Drop' from She paid for it. It is a little different from 'Gem Drop X'. I must admit not being too savvy about the point of either game. I installed and played GDX on my computer. I'm rambling again.

GameHouse's "Super Gem Drop" seems _kind_ of similar.
My game was based on Magical Drop III, a NeoGeo/arcade game.

David, I agree with you. Maybe we could start a running list somewhere of all known adventures on the system? Anyone else have any other ideas?

What about this:

Actually, there should now be a mostly "finite" number of titles made on the Atari platform. It might be possible to catalog every known title developed for the Atari -- the only problem being defining what the "cut off" is on software... is the 10 line program I made to generate blank pages for printing valid software for such cataloging? Heh.
I remember a few different interesting pieces of free/share type software for the Atari in the past. One piece was distributed as a DCM image... title screen loaded up a (Graphics mode 7?) castle image, then a menu of 3 or so games made by one guy and distributed in just that format.
The other thought I had was concerning what format the files should be stored in on the Archive if submitted. Storing them in the original Atari executables would be nice for the purposes of history, but probably a poor choice for ease of use... as I have a slightly sinking feeling that no matter how many folks still use their Atari's to some degree, a PC clone is being used as a file server or net connection for us all. Storing them as disk images would allow the original files to be kept intact (although you'd need a utility to extract them for use on a real Atari), but also allow easy use for emulators.
A self booting image would be best then... to allow more access to the general public for 'em. Menus were never my strong point... but any suggestions on a decent, quick loading menu type program for the Atari? Or, better yet, the easiest way to make the program just boot up by itself? Storing each adventure as a single disk image might be the best solution in this case...
Well, Autorun.sys would work, I suppose.

It's been a while, but I used to use several menu programs on the 8 bit. I could dig around and see what I have, or try to create one again. Basically you want each game on its owm disk image? or do you want a menu with multiple games, or both where space permits? Might be a problem with disks that allow saves, but I'll check on that as I create the disk images. As far as the link in a previous post, I've visited there before, but it seems to concentrate on the commercial programs and not the ones that are not 'professionally' created. Some of the non commercial games are better than some commercial games in my opinion. Might as well start a running list of adventures here.
Anyone remember 'GFS Sorceress'?
