ATARI800 Version 1.3.0 is available as a DOS-Version. Faster, but not 100% compatible is Xformer Classic.

I use XLIT .2 most often. Atari800win crashes some, but is pretty good, but you wanted a DOS version, which somebody already mentioned, Atari800 DOS. Markus Gietzen is the author of XLIT. Darek Michoca's Xformer classic might do.

I would avoid using JPEG format for Atari screenshots. The resolution is so low that the artifacting will stand out a lot more than in larger photographic images.
Plus the fact that the screenshots will have 'very few' colors (compared to a photo or photorealistic image - 3D render, painting, etc.)... JPEG's not meant for pictures like that.

Would anyone out there be interested in trading with me? I have an 800XL w/XF551 in perfect working order and would like to trade for an 800 (at least 48K) with one or two 810 floppy drives.
I am trying to do this for compatability reasons and have several of my old Atari apps from way back when that either don't work with the XF551 at all or I need a silly translator disk for the XL. And no, I don't believe in translator disks... had Commodore come up with the idea we all would have laughed and we know it.
I'm just a stubborn old schooler, really and would like to just be able to put my old disks into a machine and fire them up directly. That and I miss having a bulky, beige 800 around. ;-)
If anyone is interested, please e-mail me or respond here and I'll contact you.
Thanks! Louis

Good luck. 800XL's are alot more common than 800's also the 810 drives are becoming harder to find while 1050's seem to be prolific. That XF551 would be worth holding onto though. They are pretty hard to find. Mo

To run 800 apps on my 800xl, I used a software called "Be Hacker Georges", anyone know it too ?
I had to boot on this disk, then put the 800 software, type "RUN E477" then it boots the other floppy...
I still remember the 'run e477' ;) (i was very young)
hope it helps
Mr Din.

Really? That's interesting... I didn't know that.
This is the 2nd XF551 I've had and I've never even seen an 810 in person! Last time I had a 1050 (four of them, actually)!

While I don't have an 810 drive, I do have a Atari 800 at my parents' house back home. It has been many years since it has been fired up after I replaced it with my 130XE. As I remember (and assuming it hasn't been screwed by time), the only thing wrong with it is that the little metal uh.... "plate" that attaches to the underside of the cartridge flip-up lid has come unglued. It's still on the computer, it just needs to be re-attached.
The next time I go back home will be in a couple of weeks. If you're interested in it, I'll dig it out and test it. I've never even considered throwing it away, but if you are willing to give it a good home, I think that's a better life for this piece of history than to let it sit on a shelf and continue to collect dust.
